What is a Well-Balanced Life?
CEOs will tell you that there’s no such thing as a balanced life. But that’s not true. Some people might prefer a life that’s unbalanced, but that option doesn’t appeal to everyone. A well-balanced life is a worthwhile objective for the majority of the population.
What is a well-balanced life?
It’s a life that has all the resources and activities that you most desire. It largely avoids feelings of sacrifice. A balanced life isn’t for those that want to be the best in the world at something. It’s not for the people that live on the edge or the fringe. It’s for regular people that want to enjoy all aspects of life, rather than focus on one thing.
In short, a balanced life contains everything you want it to contain.
All balanced lives have several things in common:
1. Finances. If you’re struggling to pay your bills, your life isn’t balanced. If you can’t do the things you most want to do for financial reasons, your life isn’t balanced. Can you afford school supplies? A new transmission? Do you spend all of your waking hours trying to make enough money?
● You don’t need to be wealthy to have a balanced life, but you do need to have enough money.
2. Transportation. Can you get where you need to be, when you need to be there? Transportation can take the form of walking, public transportation, ride services, friends, or your own vehicle.
● Reliable transportation is an important part of living a balanced life.
3. Friends. You might need ten friends, or one might be plenty. However, we all need at least one friend. You can’t do everything alone. My life in China change the moment I started making good friends
4. Intimate relationship. This one is optional for many people, but entirely necessary for others. Most of us do better if we have an intimate relationship, or a relationship with the potential to become intimate. Busy people often neglect this area of their lives, but that can be a mistake.
5. Health. Poor health can quickly take the wind out of your sails. A well-balanced life includes a healthy mind and body. While your health isn’t 100% under your control, you have more control over it than you’ve probably been exercising.
6. Time. If you don’t have enough free time, your life isn’t well-balanced. How much free time do you need? That’s up to you. However, if you don’t have time to do the things you really want to do, you don’t have enough.
7. Fun. Everyone needs to have some fun once in a while. Can you quickly answer the question, “What do you do for fun?”? If not, you have some work to do.
8. Personal growth. Progress is part of enjoying life. We feel great when we’re making progress. How have you grown and changed in the last six months?
9. Career. Money is one thing. Your career is another. Though, they can be closely related. If you make plenty of money, but hate how you make it, your life could be better.
Do you have a balanced life? It’s easy to know. Do you have the money and time to take care of yourself, your family, and to do the things you most want to do? Do you have the social life you desire? Do you have enough time in your week to have fun and grow personally? Do you enjoy your career?
You already know if your life is balanced or not. If it’s not, what are you going to do to re-balance it?

How Smart People Manage to Make Poor Decisions
Intelligence and good decision-making don’t always go hand in hand. Even the smartest people are capable of making some pretty foolish decisions.
Decision-making is another one of those things that should be taught in schools. It would probably prove to be a more useful skill than precalculus in the typical day of most people.
It only takes a few poor decisions to derail your life if those decisions are critical enough. Think about the biggest challenges you’ve had in your life. Odds are that a wiser decision upstream could have avoided the whole mess.
Make a list of the worst decisions you’ve ever made. Now imagine being able to go back in time and make a different choice. How much different would your life be now?
Consider these causes for making poor decisions:
1. Using logic when it isn’t appropriate. Some decisions scream out for logic:
● What route to take on vacation?
● What should I feed the 10 guests I’m expecting this weekend?
● Would it be better to buy brown or black shoes?
● Other times, logic isn’t appropriate. Choosing a career, buying artwork, deciding to have a baby, or choosing a partner are some examples where it might be better to follow your heart rather than your head. For example, would anyone have a baby if logic were the only consideration?
2. Relying on intuition when it isn’t appropriate. Sometimes it makes sense to follow your gut. Other times, it’s best to get all the facts you can. For example, trusting someone in a business transaction based on intuition alone isn’t always wise. When the facts matter, gather all the facts you can.
3. Making decisions based on short-term comfort. Many poor decisions are made in haste in an attempt to relieve stress. Unfortunately, these decisions often lead to far greater pain in the long run.
● Quitting your job suddenly because you hate your boss is poor long-term thinking.
● Binge eating donuts is another decision that focuses on short-term pleasure over long-term considerations.
4. Making decisions without sufficient information. In an effort to be expedient, some people make decisions too quickly. Take the time you need to learn everything you need to know in order to make a good choice. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from an expert if that would be helpful.
5. Making too many decisions. You make thousands of decisions every day. You choose the color of socks to wear, a route to work, your words during a conversation, how you spend your time, and so much more. You make a ton of decisions each hour.
● Too many decisions reduce your ability to make decisions effectively.
6. Being too distracted. It’s hard to do anything well if your attention is elsewhere. Give your decisions the attention they require. The more important the decisions, the more important it is to focus your attention on the matter at hand.
7. Taking too long to make a decision. Decisions that are made too late are often worse than poor decisions. Nothing happens until a decision is made. Make a good decision but avoid waiting longer than necessary.
8. Being in a poor frame of mind. When you’re tired, stressed, annoyed, sad, jealous, hot, cold, or angry, you’re less likely to make a good decision.
A poor decision can create a huge challenge. Good decisions lead to happier, easier, and a more successful life. Understanding how poor decisions are made can make it easier to make good decisions.
Consider these decision-making errors and avoid them when making your next big decision. You’ll be happier with the result.

8 Ways to Make Extra Money at Home
Are you looking for a side hustle to make a little extra cash?

What would you do with a little extra money each week? Pay
bills? Buy groceries? Perhaps save it for a vacation or a deposit for a house?
Luckily, it’s never been easier to make extra money from the comfort of your own home!
Consider these ideas:
1. Become a virtual assistant. If you can copy and paste data, then you can easily become a virtual assistant. While some of the tasks involved may be more complicated than copying and pasting, most tasks will not need much skill or experience, yet can earn you a healthy amount if you find the right client.
● There are dedicated sites online, such as Upwork, where you can bid for virtual assistant jobs. You can also find work on social media if you keep your eyes open.
2. Sell on eBay, Craigslist, or Facebook Marketplace. We all have things around our homes that we no longer want or need. Rather than leaving them to gather dust, you could list them for sale online.
● You could even buy from other sellers cheaply before relisting the items for a small profit yourself.
3. Trade cryptocurrency. While cryptocurrency is still relatively new, there are still plenty of people online making money by trading Bitcoin or digital currency. As with anything else you want to sell, the way to profit is to sell at a higher price than you bought it.
4. Sell services on Fiverr. If you have any skill, such as writing, design, or many others, you can offer your services on Fiverr or one of the many marketplaces online.
● Work may be slow when you first start selling on these sites, but once you start making sales and your reputation grows, you can start to make more money.
5. Start a blog. Do you have a particular passion or subject that you know a lot about? If you do, consider writing a blog. Whether your passion is dogs or fashion, if you can write about the subject, then your audience will grow.
● Before long you’ll be able to earn money from commissions from products you recommend or from accepting advertising, like Google Ads, on your site.
6. Social media management. Nowadays, most people and businesses have a social media presence. If a company wishes to reach their target audience, it’s important to keep posting content to their social media accounts. This is where you can come in and offer your social media management services.
● If you have any experience at growing a social media following, you can charge these companies to grow their channels for them.
7. Affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing involves creating content to promote various product offers and services. You receive a commission from any product bought from your affiliate link. You can promote these products on your blog or social media accounts.
● There are thousands of niches to choose from, with plenty of money to be made from selling in-demand products.
● You can find products to promote from marketplaces like Clickbank, Amazon, or JVZoo. You can also find many websites that offer affiliate programs for their products.
8. Create online courses. This can also be a great way to make money at home by teaching others how to do any skill that you know. There are many ways to do this.
● You can create a digital product that you could sell, like an eBook.
● You could create a YouTube channel where you teach your skills to others. With YouTube, you may not make much money to start, but if you stick with it, creating new videos on a regular basis, then you could grow a following and create a passive income stream that could last for years.
● Create courses to upload to course marketplaces like Udemy, Teachable, Kajabi, or many more. You make money by selling access to your courses.
Basically, if you know how to do anything online or know more about a topic than the average person, you can monetize that skill or knowledge online.
So which side hustle do you fancy? Making money at home is certainly possible, and for some of the ideas you need very little skill or expertise, making them suitable for just about anyone.

Create a Work-Life Balance that Works for You
Finding a work-life balance is good for both your physical and mental health. But many times, heavy job responsibilities steal that balance away. When that happens, both our work and home life can suffer unwanted consequences.

But how can you achieve that balance and still excel at your
job?
Use these strategies to create the work-life balance you seek:
1. Avoid checking your work emails outside the office. While in the office, you’ll probably check your work emails often to ensure that any meetings and deadlines are met. However, checking them when you’re off work allows your work life to encroach on your home life.
● Set boundaries with yourself and your work colleagues regarding emails, so that you can take care of work communications only while at work.
2. Learn to say no. You may love your job, but it’s usually unnecessary to be available to your boss 24/7. We all need a break occasionally, and there is nothing wrong with saying no once in a while. Especially outside of your allotted work hours.
3. Work smarter, not harder. Instead of working all hours of the day, with very little rest, work smarter. You’ll actually get more done in a shorter period of time.
● Prioritize important tasks and do these tasks first each day. This way, the most important things always get done.
● Avoid unproductive activities, such as unstructured meetings or constantly checking your social media accounts.
4. Leave work at work. This may be hard, and may not always be possible, but when you clock off for the day, make a mental note that work has finished.
● Perhaps take a moment to acknowledge that work has finished by stopping and taking a breath before your commute home. The reason for this is to ensure that you are not bringing the work and any stress associated with it home.
5. You don’t need to be perfect. Have you ever been on your way out of the office, only to turn back around because you thought of a way to make a report or task perfect? Sometimes, it pays to remind yourself that you and your work are good enough.
6. Focus on things outside work. For some of us, our work is our life, but what happens if one day we lose our job? Where does that leave us? It may be a scary thought, but it’s important to have a life outside work.
● Develop some hobbies that interest you. Spending time doing something that you love reduces stress and energizes you while relaxing you and uplifting your mood. Add some “happy time” to your life!
7. Make your own rules. There has been a shift in work attitudes, especially among younger workers. More people - even bosses - are recognizing the value of work-life balance. Come up with your own ideas that will help you separate your work from your home life and run them by your boss. They might just agree!
Finding a balance between work and your home life can be difficult, but it’s well worth the effort!

How to teach Math. Effective Assessment and Feedback Strategies for Teaching Math.
Another effective method is through the use of rubrics. Rubrics provide a clear and detailed outline of what is expected from students on an assignment or project, allowing for more specific feedback that is tailored to the learning goals. This allows students to see where they excelled and where they need improvement, and provides a clear path for growth.
Providing timely and constructive feedback is also important for student learning in math. Feedback should be specific and focused on the learning objectives, highlighting areas of strength and areas for improvement. This feedback should be given in a timely manner, allowing students to make necessary adjustments and continue to progress in their learning.
Finally, incorporating self-assessment and peer assessment can be an effective way to help students take ownership of their learning and develop their understanding of math concepts. Self-assessment involves having students reflect on their own learning and progress, while peer assessment allows students to provide feedback to one another, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
In conclusion, assessment and feedback are critical components of effective math instruction. By using formative assessments, rubrics, timely feedback, and incorporating self-assessment and peer assessment, you can support your students in their learning and help them achieve success in math.
